EPFO

The Employees’ Provident Fund Scheme is a financial security measure provided by the Central Government for the future of employees. Every month, employers deposit PF money in their employees’ EPF accounts, which is equal to 12% of the employee’s salary along with the owner’s share.

These payments are available as a lump sum when the employee retires. In the past, when an employee shifted to a different job or company, a new PF account was opened, leading to multiple accounts and difficulties.

To solve this problem, the government introduced the Universal Account Number (UAN), which is a unique number given to every person. All PF accounts are linked with this number, even if you change jobs or companies.

However, it is important to remember your UAN number to check the balance in your PF account and to ensure that the companies are depositing the correct amount every month. If you forget your UAN number, you can easily find it online.

Also, it is important to teach children about their boundaries.
